OPEN POSITION(S):  FABRICATOR / WELDER

 

DEPARTMENT:  Welding / Fabricating
LOCATION:  5107 Kissell Avenue, Altoona PA 16601
REPORTS TO:  Area Supervisor

 

JOB FUNCTION

Cutting of steel, such as Angle, Tube (Square & Rectangular), Flat Stock, Plate, and Rebar to accurate lengths using Saws, Plasma Arc, and Oxygen Acetylene Hand Torch.  Fit/position in fixture or frame for tack welding and proper finished structural weld.


BASIC SKILLS - essential for all positions within the manufacturing group 

  • Accessing and reading prints
  • Understanding and building to the print
  • Accurate use of a tape measure or other measuring devices
  • Daily use of manufacturing software for clocking production hours, referring to production scheduler, etc.

  • Layout & fitting

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Manufacturing environment - appropriate safety equipment and precautions required such as eye protection, face shield, welding helmet, gloves, foot protection, hearing protection, hard hat, welding jacket, welding gloves, etc.
  • Lifting product up to 50 pounds
  • Fast-paced work as needed
  • Tobacco-free facility
  • Dust and dirt from steel handling and cutting

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Observe all safety rules and policies at all times with materials and tools
  • Receive and follow instructions from team leaders and supervisors
  • Maintain quality standards as well as time standards
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including ensuring that bulk materials are appropriately stocked at all times
  • Notify Supervisor of any discrepancies on Bills of Material, Bills of Operation, Prints, and Products
  • Scheduled overtime as production requires
