Since its inception as Central Blair Electric in 1959, Blair Companies has expanded into 21 diverse businesses, including the Image Group with signs, fixtures, lighting and architectural imaging; the Development Group with electrical, construction, coal resources and real estate; and the Venture Group, with stakes in a wide variety of local businesses. Health Insurance
Eligible to join the first day of the month after 90 days of employment.  Blair shares cost of premium for family or individual coverage.

Life Insurance
Eligible to join the first day of the month after 90 days of employment.  Company funded life insurance, with the option to sign up for additional insurance paid for by the employee.  Includes spouse and children also.

Flexible Spending Account
Eligible to join the first day of the month after 90 days of employment.  Reimburses employees for qualifying healthcare and/or dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.

Paid Leave
Blair provides Paid Leave to regular, full-time and part-time employees based upon their length of service with the Company.  Employees may use accrued Paid Leave for vacation, personal business or time off for a personal health condition in accordance with established policy.

Paid Holidays
Eligible after 90 days of employment.  Up to 9 paid holidays for regular, full time and part time employees.

Retirement Plan
Eligible after one year of employment. Employees can contribute up to 15% of salary. Plan includes various, self-directed investment options.  Blair matches 1:3 of the first 6% of salary contributed.  Eligible to participate after one year of employment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
REPORTS TO:  Director of Manufacturing
LOCATION:  5107 Kissell Avenue, Altoona PA  16601


Job Responsibilities:
  • Builds an effective team, drives team and individual engagement and focuses on customer needs.
  • Ensures maintenance coverage for critical and emergency situations and is available 24/7.
  • Manages production equipment maintenance to include equipment reliability, preventative/predictive maintenance, planned and unplanned repairs, capital improvements and cost reduction.
  • Manage facility building and grounds maintenance and upkeep to include, but not limited to, lighting, structure, lawn care, parking lots, trash removal, improvements and cost reduction.
  • Manages fleet maintenance to include, but not limited to, routine scheduled maintenance, repairs, annual inspections, replacement and cost reduction.
  • Provides leadership and focus to develop the maintenance skills resulting in highly skilled, customer focused maintenance professionals who are fully capable of meeting the needs of the organization.
  • Drives Pay for Skill in maintenance and encourage technicians to become multi-craft skilled.
  • Monitors performance and provide recognition, coach performance improvement and development, conduct regular personnel reviews and resolve personnel matters with HR or senior management as needed.
  • Reviews departmental expenses, monitor and control spending.
  • Participates in daily or weekly meetings to plan and coordinate maintenance projects with general supervisors, directors and/or VP.
  • Coordinates Maintenance Department activities on a company-wide basis to ensure that resources are allocated correctly.
  • Works with other managers/supervisors to develop common daily and weekly operating priorities.  Track progress to ensure successful completion of these priorities.
  • Recommends and implement changes to improve safety, reliability and cost.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed to meet the needs of the organization.
 
Work Environment:
  • Works in Office and manufacturing environment where temperatures, lighting and noise levels may vary significantly.  Must comply with all safety rules to include use of personal protective equipment which may include eye, ear, foot, face and body protection.  Occasionally work outside where temperature swings may be significant and safety rules more stringent.
