Summary

Blair Image Elements is looking for a Director of Accounting who is self-directed, and has been involved in Financial Presentation, Budgets, Forecasts, and Inventory Valuations.  Needs to have Excellent communication skills, reliable and highly organized, team player, strong leadership skills, and analytical mind.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

  • Manufacturing experience as it relates to costing objectives, standards, and other related flow of information and processes.
  • Supports organization financial objectives by providing financial analyses and recommendations and directing staff.
  • Develops accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations for strategic thinking and direction, and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Establishes accounting operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, and implementing change.
  • Provides financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information, and advising departments on the collection and analysis of data.
  • Maintains sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations.
  • Minimizes legally required taxes by studying regulations, presenting tax strategies to management, and filing returns.
  • Maximizes sales margins by recommending product and service pricing policies.
  • Minimizes inventory investment by analyzing returns and recommending inventory levels and reorder points


Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise accounting staff, provide on the job training and mentoring to new employees and to ensure that day to day operations, tasks and projects are being completed as planned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Education and/or Experience – Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word software, MS Powerpoint.  Knowledge of Financial software as well Proficient in computer software programs, word, spreadsheet, and data base systems, budget and forecasting experience, project management experience as well as knowledge of accounting and financial principles.
