Training

Drugs and Alcohol

Health Insurance
Eligible to join the first day of the month after 90 days of employment.  Blair shares cost of premium for family or individual coverage.

Life Insurance
Eligible to join the first day of the month after 90 days of employment.  Company funded life insurance, with the option to sign up for additional insurance paid for by the employee.  Includes spouse and children also.

Flexible Spending Account
Eligible to join the first day of the month after 90 days of employment.  Reimburses employees for qualifying healthcare and/or dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.

Paid Leave
Blair provides Paid Leave to regular, full-time and part-time employees based upon their length of service with the Company.  Employees may use accrued Paid Leave for vacation, personal business or time off for a personal health condition in accordance with established policy.

Paid Holidays
Eligible after 90 days of employment.  Up to 9 paid holidays for regular, full time and part time employees.

Retirement Plan
Eligible after one year of employment. Employees can contribute up to 15% of salary. Plan includes various, self-directed investment options.  Blair matches 1:3 of the first 6% of salary contributed.  Eligible to participate after one year of employment.

POSITION:  Sign Installer
LOCATION:  Altoona, PA (but work requires travel out of town)
REPORTS TO:  Field Services Manager

GENERAL:

  • Observe all safety rules and policies at all times with materials and tools
  • Receive and follow instructions from team leaders and supervisors
  • Maintain quality standards as well as time standards                                         
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Notify Team leader and/or Supervisor of any discrepancies on prints and products                           
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                            
Training
  • Accurately read, understand, and demonstrate how to use a tape measure on materials used daily
  • Operate basic hand and power tools such as miter saw, grinder, levels
  • Read, understand, and follow print and book job information
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks
  • Be able to work at heights up to 35'
  • Must be prepared to work outside in all types of weather conditions
  • Must have valid state driver's license to operate or drive company motor vehicle  
Certified
  • Read and understand prints/drawings (both company and site drawings)
  • Know and be able to use the appropriate tools required to complete the job
  • Operate a scissor lift, man lift or basket lift, operate forklift and tow a trailer (non CDL truck and trailer)
  • Know and understand hand signals to assist crane operator in their lifts.
  • Know and understand ACM panel installation to include extrusion, trim and panel
  • Know and understand ACM panel repair and replacement techniques
  • Know and understand Tower installation procedures and repairs
  • Complete OSHA 10-hour Construction Training Course  
Senior
  • Demonstrate knowledge and have performed project installation from start to finish.  To include:
    • Project site preparation (material location, work area set up)
    • Site safety set up (Safety cones, traffic flow, safety tape)
    • Panel layout (plumb and level lines with builders level, laser level)
  • Know and understand how to complete proper paperwork.  To include:
    • Daily update with progress pictures
    • Daily time sheet/per Diem request
    • Accident/Safety-related forms required for site accidents/emergency (Accident forms are completed with guidance from HR)
  • Complete Crew Expense Reports and submit in a timely manner.  All receipts form company fuel card and credit card must be reported, accounted for and submitted by the 20 of each month.
  • Understand the role of an Advanced Level supervisor and supervise a crew if a Supervisor is not available
  • Assist and train newer or less experienced employees
  • Guide less experienced employees on safety and quality principles
  • Capable of problem solving site issues while working with Project Manager
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Training Course                                                   
Advanced
  • As a representative of Blair, must demonstrate a high degree of professional etiquette and effective communication with customers, contractors, city officials, and inspectors at all times
  • Lead crew to complete projects on time and on budget from start to finish
  • Supervise and train subordinates to work effectively, including instruction in use of equipment and safely practices
  • Independently resolve site issues while maintaining Blair quality standards and profit margins
  • Keep crew efficiently occupied when not in the field, including re-stocking, equipment and vehicle maintenance, or to coordinate factory time with plant supervisors
  • Ensure highest quality installations:  Know the standard, be the standard, set the standard
  • Complete pre-installation paperwork prior to beginning the project 
  • Work in conjunction with project manager to make sure all pre-installation paperwork, permits and approved drawings are submitted and approved prior to beginning project
  • Turn in all paperwork and completion photos in a timely manner upon job completion  
  • Interact constructively with project managers, engineering and manufacturing personnel to continuously improve all products and processes
  • Demonstrate expertise with architectural, ACM, signs, LED and millwork installations
  • Maintain CDL license and crane certification
  • Additional OSHA training above the required 30 hours                                                                                     
WORK ENVIRONMENT DESCRIPTION:                                                                                                                                               
  • Outside work – must wear proper attire for weather conditions
  • Must wear all safety gear - hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses and safety harness when needed.  Ensure other crew members do the same.  Blair requires mandatory level for PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) to include hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest and boots (steel toe not required), and long pants.  Shirts must have sleeves.   Short sleeves are permitted in hot weather.  Lifting product up to 50 pounds;  Fast-paced work as needed                                                   

ADDITIONAL NOTES:                                                                                                             
This position requires extended travel and long work days to complete the job.    Employee must be willing to be away from home for several weeks at a time.
